CESU Professional Conference
The Commission for the study of University Sport (CESU) sponsors an educational conference which takes place during the Summer World University Games. It brings together scholars and researchers who are studying the many aspects of sport in the university setting. Keynote speeches, presented papers, and poster presentations provide multiple outlets for study and learning.
Even-Numbered Years:
FISU Forum
The CESU Commission also sponsors the FISU Forum in the even-numbered years. The Forum provides an opportunity for students and officials to meet and discuss subjects involving education, culture, and sport in the university. Participation is limited to two students and two officials from each national sports federation. The seminar format is primarily one of sharing information and discussion. World University Championships
World University Championships are held in the even-numbered years and cover a wide range of sports. They allow a large number of university students to compete in sanctioned sports outside of those contested in the Universiade. New events are added each year. Current World Championships include sports such as cross-country, taekwondo team, handball, table tennis, equestrian, badminton, judo, softball, baseball and archery.
ELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE
The World University Games and World University Sports Championships are open to all amateur university athletes between the ages of 17 and 28. Students who have graduated within the past year are also eligible. All athletes must be certified by the National University Sports Federation in their country. More than 175 countries participate in FISU events. These include FISU member countries and countries recognized by the International Olympic Committee. In addition participants are also admitted if their national sport federation is affiliated with the appropriate international sports federation.
